Founding Story

Climate Change

Climate change, induced by human activities and driven by the enhanced greenhouse effect, remains a pressing global concern. Despite widespread familiarity with the term, several challenges persist. Firstly, the complexity of climate systems makes accurate modeling difficult. Additionally, climate models heavily depend on data, and obtaining high-quality data presents a significant challenge, contributing to limitations. Moreover, the dynamic nature of climate science requires continuous model improvement to incorporate the latest knowledge. Beyond modeling challenges, the issue extends to how countries, particularly developed ones, address climate change. The established systems of mass production make transitioning to renewable energy sources on a large scale a formidable task, amplifying the persisting global challenge of climate change.

Why is it urgent?

Climate change is no longer a distant concern but an urgent challenge demanding immediate attention across various perspectives. From an environmental standpoint, the urgency arises from escalating risks like rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss, which threaten ecosystems and trigger irreversible ecological damage. Socially, vulnerable communities face heightened risks, leading to displacement, resource scarcity, and increased health challenges. Economic vulnerabilities are another dimension, as the increased frequency of extreme weather events disrupts supply chains, damages infrastructure, and incurs substantial recovery costs. Proactive climate action is economically imperative to mitigate risks, protect investments, and promote sustainable economic growth. The technological perspective highlights the need for innovation in clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and carbon capture to transition toward a low-carbon future. Finally, the political imperative emphasizes global cooperation to formulate and implement policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to changes, and address climate-related inequities.
