global impact

Impact Areas

Impact Area 1: Enhanced Climate Prediction Precision for Agriculture Location: Mato Grosso, Brazil Mato Grosso is a key agricultural state in Brazil, facing climate change challenges such as changing rainfall patterns and increased heat stress. The precision of climate predictions improved by our project would be invaluable to the region's agribusiness sector. Farmers in Mato Grosso could make more informed decisions regarding crop cultivation, optimizing resource use, and contributing to sustainable agriculture practices. Impact Area 2: Improved Understanding of Glacial Melting in the Swiss Alps Location: Swiss Alps, Switzerland The Swiss Alps are experiencing accelerated glacial melting due to global warming. This phenomenon has significant implications for water resource management, tourism, and ecosystem health. Our project's enhanced understanding of cloud dynamics and climate trends would assist in more accurate predictions of glacial behavior and its impact on local communities. It would facilitate better planning for water resource allocation, risk reduction, and tourism management in the region. Impact Area 3: Empowering Sustainable Coastal Development in Bangladesh Location: Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh Cox's Bazar, known for its long coastal stretch along the Bay of Bengal, faces increasing vulnerability to sea-level rise and cyclones due to climate change. Our climate modeling project's policy-informed insights would empower local authorities and planners in Bangladesh to develop climate-resilient coastal infrastructure and housing solutions. This would not only enhance the resilience of the community but also support sustainable coastal development in a region prone to climate-related risks.
